Becoming A Member
Shared Values Of our Members
Lake O’ The Woods Club is a member-focused community dedicated to family-friendly social nudity and the sense of community that this fosters.
We intend LOWC to survive in perpetuity as a nudist community.
LOWC emphasizes non-sexual social nudity, and all our events and gatherings are family-friendly. We welcome individuals, couples and families who would like to have an understanding of the benefits found in nudism. Behavior that is not in accord with our values is not tolerated.
LOWC does not discriminate based on age, race, religion, gender or marital status.
LOWC maintains reasonable fees by sharing work. Member participation is expected in the maintenance and operations of LOWC as well as in social activities. We take pride in keeping the grounds, club house and facilities clean and well maintained. Eight hours of volunteer time during the summer season is recommended for all members, plus participation in fall and spring cleanup weekends.
Our strength and foundation is in the belief that every member is important and deserves to be treated with respect.
Applying for Membership
When can I apply for A Membership?
‘A’ Membership applications are accepted at any time. If you're comfortable with nude recreation, and know that you want to participate in a cooperative family-oriented nudist community, then apply. If you aren't sure about the whole social nudity thing, spend some time here as a visitor or become a C Member, while getting to know people and seeing if it’s for you. All who have an interest in being part of the wholesomeness of healthful outdoor nude recreation and the simple joy of social nudity are welcome to apply and all applications will be considered. Your application is kept private and is never shared.
‘AA’ Membership applications are accepted after one full year of A Membership. The AA membership is a buy-in and property-owning membership that shares in the cooperative ownership of the club, and as such is subject to a lengthier application process.
What is the process to apply for the A Membership?
Contact the membership Chair by e-mail at at membership4lowc@gmail.com, or text/phone 219-246-9472.
They will arrange for an interview at a mutually convenient time. The purpose of the interview is for both parties to understand what membership in LOWC means and to establish that there is a good fit and commitment to being part of the community.
After the successful completion of the interview and orientation, an application will be submitted with your payment of a non-refundable $65.00 application fee.
A background check will be completed.
The membership committee will bring the application to the next Board meeting (held on the second Saturday of each month, excepting November, January, February, and March when there is no meeting held, and July when the meeting is held on the third saturday). The applicant may attend the Board meeting where the application is discussed, but is not required to. If you attend, you'll have an opportunity to meet the Board, ask questions and answer questions they may have for you. Membership decisions are made after the board meeting in closed session.
Once approved by the Board, the new family, couple, or individual will then become member(s) of our club and be given keys and have full member access to the grounds and amenities. Members also contribute year ‘round to the maintenance and/or betterment of the club by virtue of their individual aptitudes, strengths, or preferences. Any inappropriate behavior will result in loss of A-level membership status.
“C” Membership (seasonal)
The C Membership is open to couples, singles, or families who are almost ready to apply for A Membership.
A Background check will be completed.
The C Membership is a non-voting limited term (one season) membership that can be renewed annually by paying the application fee. C Members will check in with the gatekeeper each visit, pay a reduced daily gate fee, and wear a wristband.
C Members are not expected to contribute year ‘round to the maintenance and/or betterment of the club, nor participate in cleanup weekends. C Members must be accompanied by an A or AA member to access the trails, roads, residential areas and East Pier. Friday Night Cake By the Lake at East Pier remains open to C Members.
At any time, a C Member may apply for A Membership.
Any inappropriate behavior will result in loss of C Membership status.
